Web FAQs

What is a URL?

Uniform Resource Locator (URL) is an address referring to a document on the Internet. In other words, it is the address of an individual web page element or web document on the Internet. A URL is not the same as a domain name or home page. Every web document and web graphic image on a web site has a URL.

Okay, then what is a domain name or domain?

A domain name is a specific web site address that you choose and register with web hosting company. Each domain name is unique. Our domain name is “imagineds.com”. We provide domain name registration, renewal and maintenance for our customers.

What is web hosting or hosting?

Web hosting is the location of all the files that make up your website content. It also provides accessibility to your website on the internet. We provide web hosting for our customers.

What is website or site maintenance?

Website maintenance is the process of keeping your site updated with fresh and relevant content.  Good web sites have regularly updated content that will keep your visitors coming back. This is an optional service that we provide for our customers. We also provide training and tools for customers that want to make minor changes themselves using a content management system.

Why would I want a CMS?

A content management system (CMS) provides an easy and efficient way to update the content on your website, without having to install any additional software on your computer.  We can install our preferred CMS on your website and train you on how to use it.

Do I need any special knowledge to use CMS?

To make any updates on your website, it is helpful if you know a little bit of the language that is used to create web pages (HTML), though it is not necessary. We have trained many customers to use a CMS who have little or no HTML experience.

What is a Blog?

A blog is a type of web site (or a page on a web site) that usually includes regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video.  Most blogs are interactive, allowing visitors to leave comments.

What is Social Media?

Social media is a blending of technology (internet-based applications) and social interaction which allows the creation and exchange of user-generated content. Some examples are Facebook, Twitter, Linked In, etc.

What is HTML?

Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) defines a set up common styles for web pages: headings, paragraphs, lists, tables, and characters.

Web Browsers?

In addition to providing networking functions to retrieve pages from the Web, web browsers also double as HTML formatters. When you read an HTML page into a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Safari, the browser interprets the HTML and formats the text and images on the screen. But each browser can interpret the HTML a little different, so you can look at a website in one Web Browser that may look a little different in another Web Browser. We are diligent to make sure our websites work in the popular Web Browsers.
